GENE COTTON-SAVE THE DANCER

Gene Cotton-Save The Dancer (1978)

1. Before My Heart Finds Out
2. You're A Part Of Me
3. Like A Sunday In Salem (The Amos & Andy Song)
4. Going Through The Motions Of Love
5. Save The Dancer
6. Only The Lucky
7. She's Sweet, She's Somebody
8. Shine On
9. You Were Right
10. As Long As There's Laughter

This was Gene Cotton's big breakthrough album with the first 3 songs on the LP making the Top 40 in 1978. You're A Part Of Me was a duet with Kim Carnes, who also wrote it, notable for being her first Top 40 song. Gene's easygoing vocal style and arrangements are very reminiscent of James Taylor, though he stretches nicely on Shine On, a folk-gospel number which features the Andre Crouch Singers. Why this album was never released on CD is beyond me.
